Hurricane 3D Rig designer Alister Chapman up close and personal
Nowadays, you can get a lot of information from the web, often en
ough you will find more than you could expect. With the amount of articles and videos online, you could spend forever on the web – whilst still not necessarily gaining the necessary knowledge. This is why people find it much easier to both understand and save time, by physically being there to see how things are done and ask questions at the same time.
Luckily for us, Black Diamond Award winner Hurricane Rig designer, Alister Chapman, came to Hong Kong to host a seminar to share some handy usage tips, answer questions, as well as give us a much anticipated update on what will be the next step for the Hurricane Rig.
During the first half of the day, Alister talked about the history of 3D and the theory behind shooting in 3D. With his background who else would be better to learn from. The latter part of the day, he showed us how to set up the Beam Splitter rig correctly, as well as how to

shift into a side-by side rig, and shared with us valuable up-keep tips, the correct and easy method of the cameras alignment manually, not to mention a few.
To be able to play with the rig was the most intriguing, and with the designer by your side to answer any questions as they came up – it could not get any better than that.
