About ND filters

Neutral Density filters are used in photography and cinematography to control the amount of light entering a camera lens.

Neutral density filters are classified by the optical density , the corresponding f - stop reduction and light transmission. ND numbers are be expressed in two forms, decimal or a denominator. When ND decimal form is used the number corresponds to optical density. When using ND denominator form the number corresponds to the denominator or the bottom figure of the fractional amount of light passing through the filter.
